They are either D ring buckles or plastic cinch buckles. They are adjustable and can really help in getting positions right.

What is really great about the straps is the fact that they are perfect for yogis of all skill levels. The harder the level of practice is, the more useful the straps are. Some of the most challenging poses can be achieved much more easily by using these and other accessories, and some of the most difficult levels of yoga asanas can be achieved also, making the stretches much more worthwhile.

Even though straps are not as commonly used as much of the other accessories for yoga, they are no less useful. Even some yogis that have been doing yoga for some time may not be familiar with them. Yoga straps are simple nylon straps with either a plastic or metal buckle. They are lightweight and available in many colors. They can be used as an aid for people that might have some trouble reaching a specific pose. Yoga straps can be looped around the feet or the torso for poses, and can be used with many other poses as well.
